Getting Better Help from a Contextual AI Coach

You are halfway through a learning activity and understand the words, but not how to apply them. That is a useful moment to ask for help. Waiting until the end of a pathway can leave the same misunderstanding attached to every later step.

The Thoutex AI Coach supports learners with explanations and questions in their learning context. The value of that context is that the conversation can stay close to the material and development activity the learner is working through.

Describe the point where you became unsure

A focused question gives the coach a better starting point than “Explain this topic.” Name the activity and describe the distinction or step that is unclear. If you have already tried to solve a problem, explain your approach and where it stopped making sense.

For example: “I understand how to record an issue. I am unsure what makes it an escalation. Can you explain that difference using a routine example?” This asks for help with a specific concept rather than a replacement for the whole learning activity.

Choose the kind of help you need

  • An explanation: “Can you describe this idea in simpler terms?”
  • A comparison: “How is this situation different from the example in the activity?”
  • A practice prompt: “Give me a short scenario so I can try applying the idea.”
  • A hint: “Help me identify the next step before giving me a full worked example.”

Choose the prompt that matches what you are trying to understand. Follow up with your own explanation of the idea so you can identify any part that remains unclear.

Keep the learning material in view

Compare an explanation with the resources attached to the activity. A confident answer can still miss an organisation-specific detail. If there is a conflict with an agreed process or the explanation depends on missing information, ask the person responsible for that material to clarify it.

Do not assume the coach can access every organisational file. Keep questions grounded in the learning context available to it, and describe the relevant point when more context is needed.

Use the explanation in the next activity

After the conversation, attempt the task or knowledge check yourself. Being able to follow an explanation and being able to apply it are different stages of learning. If you remain unsure, note the unresolved question for your manager or the person supporting the pathway.

The useful outcome of coaching is a clearer next action: revisit a resource, practise a scenario or ask for human guidance. Treat the conversation as support for development rather than evidence that a skill level has automatically changed.
